We are pleased to announce our inaugural repair café at the University of Auckland, in collaboration with the Repair Network Aotearoa and supported by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

A repair café is an event where volunteer experts try to repair broken or damaged goods brought in by locals.

Every damaged belongings that is repaired saves on the emissions of its production, and diverts materials away from the landfill. Making this change is crucial for building a more sustainable and circular economy, by supporting consumer self-sufficiency and longer product lifespans.

This will be a half-day affair on Friday 17 October, running from 9am to 1pm in the Unleash Space in the Engineering Building 402.

We are still seeking volunteers – especially those skilled in electrics, sewers, and general repairs – email foed-sustainability@auckland.ac.nz if you would like to help out.

All students and staff are invited to participate! Come along and get some more life out of your ripped coat, your jammed toaster, or cracked smartphone.
