This week Professor Jacqueline Beggs officially announced her intention to step down as Co-Director of Ngā Ara Whetū.
Jacqueline shared her farewell message:
I want to offer my sincere thanks to all our affiliates, students, partners, and supporters who have walked alongside us in building this Centre. It has been a privilege to help shape Ngā Ara Whetū through its early years – years full of ambition, challenge, collaboration, and genuine progress toward a more sustainable, just, and biodiverse future.
What I treasure most is the generosity of this community: the willingness to work across disciplines, to test new ideas, to build trust with our partners, and to Centre people and place in our research. Your energy and commitment have been the heart of the Centre.
Although I am stepping back from leadership, I remain fully committed to our Ngā Ara Whetū aligned research programmes and to supporting the next phase of Ngā Ara Whetū’s journey. I look forward to seeing the Centre continue to flourish under new leadership and to contributing wherever I can.
Ngā mihi nui for your support, patience, and partnership over the years. It has meant a great deal.
